Who Are We

Before we start talking about hospitality we should of course introduce ourselves. We are a small group of hotels from the South East of England. We have been operating since 1999 and have gone from a handful of employees to now helping guide the careers of well over 150 members of staff. We believe hospitality is one of the most rewarding career paths you could ever choose and are passionate about letting the world know about it. So here we go…

 

Why Hospitality?

We know what you’ve heard. Careers in hospitality can sometimes come with a pretty poor reputation. Long unsociable hours, hard tiring work, low pay. It’s all you ever seem to hear. Career Paths

Due to the huge variation of roles available within hospitality, there are so many ways to get to the position you want. In fact there are many examples of our own team members starting their careers with us doing something completely different than what they do now. Our Team

We believe hospitality is one of the greatest industries you can ever work in. The path from your introductory position to a managerial one can be super fast. In fact many of our team managers now started with us in an introductory position. Proving themselves with hard work and determination. Here are just a few examples of our own team’s experience in hospitality.

 

Giles Thomas – Operations Director

“I joined the Company on the 2nd October 2011. My previous roles within the Group have been Hotel Manager, General Manager, Group General Manager and my current role is that of Operations Director. Being an independent hotel offers more scope for individuality. Customer service and empowering our teams is at the forefront of our ethos and we are keen to develop our hotel group further to ensure we are destinations of choice for guests. My message to any prospective students or anyone looking to develop a career in hospitality is that we are always looking for enthusiastic, open minded people to join our teams so please feel free to contact us if you are interested to learn more about hotels.”

Rob Cruickshank – Senior Assistant Manager

“I have worked for the company since 2010. My current role is Senior Assistant Manager but I have held previous roles of Part Time Waiter/Barman, Duty Manager and Assistant Manager. I have also had the opportunity to move from one hotel within the group to another. The company has given me brilliant support throughout my progression and I strongly recommend anyone to consider the hospitality industry as their chosen career path.”

Marie Bowering – Events Co-ordinator

“I have worked for Reigate Manor for around 3 years. I started in the company as a Receptionist and have recently progressed to an Events Co-ordinator. I have dabbled in many different roles throughout the hotel such as waitressing and training for Duty Manager. This has allowed me to get a better understanding of how the hotel is run from different sectors. I enjoy working with my colleagues, we all have such a great bond and a great working environment really makes it an enjoyable place to work. It is great to meet lots of different people each day; no day is the same which keeps us all on our toes! Working in the hotel industry is always busy but I have definitely gained many key skills from working in the hotel. My confidence has developed and I am happy in my role.”

Roland Gjoni – Operations Manager

“I have worked with the Company for 17 years. I started out as a part time Waiter and after some time progressed to Supervisor. Within eighteen months I was promoted to Assistant Manager. After four months in this role, I worked hard and progressed to Senior Assistant Manager. I have now been working as Operations Manager for the last ten years. I do enjoy working here at the hotel because we are a family, the team is great and also the guests, some of whom are very regular and have been visiting the hotel for many years. My message to all prospective students is that, you are welcome to join us at Manor Collection. By joining us you will get opportunities to develop in different departments and also across the three hotels within the Group.”

Jon Soares – Assistant Food & Beverage Manager

“I’ve been working for Manor Collection for over 4 years. Currently I am the Assistant Food & Beverage Manager at Hartsfield Manor and I’ve been in that position for a year now. Manor Collection offers great career progression. In my particular example I first started as a Kitchen Porter, moving on to a Waiter, Restaurant Supervisor, Assistant Manager and finally Assistant Food & Beverage Manager. What I most like about working for Manor Collection is the family feel, where everybody knows each other and are close to each other, like a big family. My message to any prospective employees would be that it is a great place to start working due to the variety and quantity of functions that we host. It’s not only a great place to work but also for meeting and making new friends.”
